Weekend Organizing Challenge: Clothing Hangers

Need some organizing motivation and inspiration, or a gentle nudge? Subscribe to my blog to receive mini-organizing challenges several weekends a month. They will be automatically emailed to you so you won’t have to remember to visit the blog.

Mini-organizing challenges are doable and will focus on de-cluttering a tiny area of your home.  If the weekend challenge “speaks” to you, then set your timer for 30 minutes and start organizing/de-cluttering. Stop when the timer goes off and enjoy the rest of your weekend knowing that you accomplished something!  Of course you may continue organizing if you have gained the momentum you were looking for.

Mini-Challenge: Clothing Hangers

Head to your clothing closet and gather up all your empty hangers.  You may be surprised at how many you find scattered throughout your clothing. They take up a lot of closet space.  Can you relocate most of the empties to your laundry room?  I do this once a week or more and use them to hang items directly from my dryer.  Are there other closets that need hangers or is it time to donate a few?

Please, oh please consider recycling those tangly, flimsy, crease-inducing wire hangers. Replace them with sturdier plastic tube hangers (in photo) or another type of hanger: wood, clear plastic (the type of hangers used by retailers), or slim flocked hangers.

What is your favorite type of hanger?
