Weekend Mini-Organizing Challenge: Media Cabinet

Need some organizing motivation and inspiration, or a gentle nudge? Simply subscribe to my blog to receive mini-organizing challenges several weekends a month. They will be automatically emailed to you so you won’t have to remember to visit the blog.

Mini-organizing challenges are doable and will focus on decluttering a tiny area of your home.  If the weekend challenge “speaks” to you, then set your timer for 30 minutes and start organizing/decluttering. Stop when the timer goes off and enjoy the rest of your weekend knowing that you accomplished something!  Of course you may continue organizing if you have gained the momentum you needed.

Mini Challenge: Media Cabinet

This weekend, take a peek at the storage spaces provided by your media cabinet {or cabinets near your t.v.}.  Are they cluttered? Do they contain VHS tapes despite not having a VHS player?

Clear out the clutter!  Tackle this space and in no time {30 minutes} you will have a container filled with donations.

You may have to toss the old and worn media.  Avoid this in the future by switching to streaming your media, renting, or borrowing from your library.

Old gaming consoles and their games could be listed for sale via Craig’s List or your local gaming re-sale shop.

VHS tapes are recyclable, but you will most likely have to pay.  Check out the recycling option, Green Disk here.

Best Buy will accept a limited number of CD’s and DVD’s.   I would suggest calling before making the trip.  More information here.

Earth 911 is also a good resource for recycling options.

You may find something you were looking for in addition to more available storage spaces, once you’ve cleared the clutter.
