My dad turned 88!

This guy!  He doesn’t look a day over 70, but he recently turned 88.

Birthdays are a time to celebrate and treat yourself.  I tend to find ways to celebrate without buying ‘stuff.’  Who needs more stuff, right?

Dad’s (Rex’s) celebration went like this……

His absolute, favorite meal is breakfast so off we went to his favorite place, the Copper Top.  He has nice memories of eating there with my mom.

Let me back up here a moment because we actually had a pre-birthday celebration a few days before his birthday.  I took treated Rex to lunch at a cute and cozy place called, Paoli Schoolhouse Shops and Cafe.  Not the most masculine place to lunch but he enjoyed the food and the lovely setting in….you guessed it, a former schoolhouse.

Back to his actual birthday……we continued celebrating his day with home-made chili and chocolate cherry cake (all his choosing) at my home. Most of the leftovers were packaged up and went home with him.  The meal was a gift that kept giving!

Lastly, my dad was given a block of Havarti cheese.  What can I say, we are Wisconsin natives and he has a hard time finding this particular cheese at his grocery store (you could call it cheese overwhelm).

My dad enjoys father/daughter dates and loves food.  I may have hit it out of the park with our celebration.  My siblings would have done the same but they live out of the area.

Happy Birthday Dad!
