Organize Your Craft Supplies and Let Your Creative Juices Flow

thread-931889_1920

If you are an enthusiastic crafter, you may have noticed that your crafting supplies have gotten out of hand, cluttering up your workspace.

It’s often just as much fun to buy the supplies as it is to actually create the item.

Imagine how awesome it would be to be able to find your supplies and have space to work in?

There is a common mindset that neatness inhibits creativity.

Isn’t it difficult to create when surrounded by chaos?

Use these tips to eliminate craft clutter and get those creative juices flowing once again.

1. Categorize and store your supplies in clear, labeled containers.

2. Think vertical for storage. Install a pegboard for your small tools. Stack your containers on shelves. Attach an over-the-door shoe organizer with clear pockets behind a door and use the pockets to hold supplies. Your supplies have accessible homes.

3. Be realistic about projects you intend to finish “someday.” If they have been gathering dust for years, then that ship has probably sailed. Don’t feel bad, our interests and priorities change over time. Give those projects a new home with another crafter.

4. From now on, only buy supplies for current projects. Wow, that’s a tough one isn’t it? This will prevent you from accumulating more unfinished projects and help you save some money.

5. Lastly, clean up your space at the end of each craft work session. Return supplies to their homes so you can find them next time the urge to create strikes.
