[Day 8] Drinking Glasses: Kitchen Clutter Clear Out

Day 8, if you are playing along, your kitchen is looking a bit more spacious after the first week!

Today, it’s all about clearing out and organizing your drinking glasses.  You may have just completed Day 7, your mugs.  That was a warm up for today’s project.

This is a project I have worked on with many clients. The photo below is from a client’s kitchen.

Pretty impressive, isn’t it?  My client was a purging machine, with a bit of encouragement. The result was an empty shelf.  I suppose you are wondering if she found something to place in that nice, clean, empty space.  Nope…. she left it empty, gasp!  Empty spaces are perfectly acceptable.  They are calming spaces for your eyes to rest.

Put on your purging cap, it’s time to clear out some more clutter!

  • Empty the cabinet and evaluate your glasses.
  • Group the plastic drinking cups separate from the glasses.  Now you know how many, of each, you have.
  • How many do you realistically need?
  • Which ones does you family use over and over?
  • Are you storing a large number for the times you have company or a dinner party? How often do you entertain?  If your rarely entertain, could you box up and store the overflow glasses in the basement or another closet shelf?  Be sure to label the box clearly.
  • Make smart decisions about the glasses you keep.  Place them back into your cabinet.

Did you clear out some clutter and gain some empty space?

Simply,

Jill
